  Why we have Conspiracy Theorists......

  everyone knows a conspiracy theorist (let's face it we have a few on this board).

  my attention has been to drawn to an article in the new york times, which i have pasted below.

  apparently people with propensity to create conspiracy theory narratives are quite sane, even though they may have low self worth and cannot fully ascertain their place in the world.

  DD thank you for posting that video....here is a follow up of it for anyone that is interested. They are now doing phase 3 trials after the FDA spending millions of dollars on court cases, trying to lock up a doctor, and steal his patent because what he has discovered HAS cured cancer in many patients.

  they did everything wrong they could, and then some on the big xbox one reveal.. talking about going bust i have been seeing xbox fan boys saying it's over already and they are getting ps4s.. if you know anything about that part of nerdom, ms xbox fans are beyond die hard loyal fanatics..

  What did they do wrong (ok I admit I know stuff all about xbox) but my son is excited about xbox one. He watched the big reveal on youtube and thought it looked awesome.

  don't get me wrong, this forum currently has plenty of interesting discussions and posters, but, for those of you who weren't on the old jwd board in the early-to-mid-00s, man...i'm sorry but you really missed out on the glory years of this forum.

  it was really a special, unique place then.

  again, not dissing the current, but, that huge exciting wave of ex-jw internet activity that occurred in the early part of this century seems to have leveled off.

  Can't please everyone...especially people who HATE change and like to have everything their own way.

  I've seen comments like that about people fairly recently...and how the forum NEVER used to be so divisive...I call it, selective vision about the 'good old days'.

  I've read a few of the old threads...and there was no coffee shop atmosphere (not in the old threads I've read anyway)...and those good old days look very much like today. Only the names have changed.

  Also lumping in alien and bigfoot and reptoid things may seem to discredit these "conspiracies" but know that these things dont have the proof that other things called "theories" have....BU2B

  That is just a way to dismiss people as a whole...just label them 'conspiracy theorists' isn't it BU2B?

  That way people can ease their own conscience about having to actually LOOK at anything that is presented and has evidence to support it and do their own research. Or see what just doesn't stack up the way our governments and so called 'experts' tell us it does.

  They can carry on in their own little world and convince themselves those conspiracy apostates are just crazy...our government and big pharm really are thinking about our needs and they really are looking after us...just like a mummy and daddy should.

  Being in JW land is just a reflection of being in denial land on a smaller scale. Just like good JW's...people don't want to see what is really happening in front of their eyes. Because then they might have to get off their asses and actually DO something about it.

  Easier to just make fun of people and deny ALL of it...call people crazy...or kooks...or nutters...or conspiracy theorists. Label them and discredit them...now where have we seen THAT behaviour before?

  Just think....JWs consider 'apostates' to be a kind of 'conspiracy theorists'...spreading rumours and lies, making up ridiculous unbelievable stories about the faithful and discreet slave..... of course everyone KNOWS the WTS always tell the truth....

  When there is Money and power involved....you WILL have conspiracies. They are unavoidable. No one needs to make them up. We just choose to see them or not.

  Power corrupts...absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  If you want to unquestioningly trust the people in charge...more fool you.
